Kaze Trio

The Kaze Trio was founded in the fall of 2007 as an ensemble for Longitude, the new music group in residence at the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA.  Ashley Addington, flute; Alisa Seavey, viola; and Megan Remaly, harp are all graduate students in Cambridge, interested in new music and in exploring the possibilities of their ensemble.   The trio has been fortunate  to work with such esteemed musicians as Roger Tapping (formerly of the Takacs Quartet), Kate Vincent (Firebird New Music Ensemble) and the Pacifica Quartet.

The word Kaze (kah-zay) is the Japanese word for wind. The trio chose the name because of what first brought them together: performing Takemitsu's And then I knew 'twas Wind as part of a graduate-school new music ensemble under the inspiration and direction of the fabulous Kate Vincent.  The Kaze Trio performed as semi-finalists in the 2008 Plowman Chamber Music Competition in Columbia, Missouri and was a finalist in the 2008 Longy Honors Competition.  The Kaze Trio was awarded Third Prize in the 2008 International Chamber Music Competition sponsored by the Chamber Music Foundation of New England.
The Kaze Trio performs actively in and around Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The trio has been featured on concerts at Tufts University (Somerville, MA), The Lily Pad (Inman Square, Cambridge, MA) and the Harvard Coop Bookstore. Always looking for new repertoire and commissions, the Kaze Trio looks forward to expanding their horizons through taking advantage of every opportunity to learn with, engage, and excite their audiences.
